About
Den was born and raised in St. Louis. In fact, Den tried moving away from St. Louis once. It last four months. Now Den visits other places and comes back here to St. Louis as his home. No promises about the future but for now Den is a man of St. Louis. It was recently pointed out that Den now lives in Belleville, Illinois. This is true. However, Belleville is so close to St. Louis that considering modern urban sprawl could be considered a fringe suburb. Den still considers himself a St. Louisan.
Den was born in the hot muggy summer. Attended Bayless High School (essential information if you are from St. Louis), and received a bachelor’s degree from Webster University with dual majors in animation and anatomical illustration (he can draw just about anything) and minors in comparative religion and creative writing. Den’s creative writing teacher was one of his heroes, Glenn Savan. Glenn was the author of a book whose heart was in St. Louis, White Palace.
Den once asked Glenn if he thought Den showed the talents necessary to be a writer. Glenn asked his own question, “What was your grade in my class?” Den answered, “An A.” Glenn’s reply, “You were the only one.”
Den is a life long fan of the fantastic and the futuristic. His writing reflects these visions. He writes science-fiction and fantasy filled with fully realized characters who think, feel, and breath in a world just five steps away from our own. If you like bone-chilling, hair-raising, thought-provoking stories with a dash of belly-shaking, pants-peeing humor-Den is the writer for you.
Den has a story entered in the L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future contest. He has finished a rough draft of his first novel, a science fiction adventure (currently being edited), and he is writing a second, a fantasy set in an imaginary and inventive version of the American Old West. Remember his name. You will be seeing it on the spine of many books to come.
Den lives in South St. Louis County with his lovely wife, Colleen, a brilliant photographer, caterer, designer, artist, editor and first reader of all of his work. He would like to dedicate all his work to her for her never ending support and patient love; one artist to another. He couldn’t do any of it without her.
